Scholars are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers for the Journal of History, Archaeology and Architecture, a biannual  peer reviewed journal that seeks to explore the close links between the different disciplines of history, art and archaeology. Journal is focused on publishing the highest quality papers covering allaspects of South Asian Archaeology, History and Architecture. This is an effort to bring out current research and ideas together on a platform that will enhance knowledge of our past cultures. Deliberations on different aspects of the history of India and the world based on the great variety of newly emerging historical approaches, archaeological practices and emerging new trends in art and architecture can facilitate a reevaluation of existing material by historians, archaeologists and art historians to help fill up the gaps in our knowledge through an inter-disciplinary approach. All manuscripts submitted will be subjected to rigorous review by respective referees.

Papers of below mentioned aspects/ areas along with new important. discoveries and reviews of the research works will be acceptable for this journal:

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION OF ARTICLES

1. The research papers should be original and not submitted to any other journal and not be previously published. All research articles submitted will be checked for plagiarism. The author(s) are strictly expected to acknowledge the references made use of. Author should Identify sources of all information and cite those publications that have been used during the research process.

2. Electronic Submissions should be sent in MS Word format to: vinaykumar166@yahoo.com or eicjhaa@gmail.com

3. Papers should have an inter-disciplinary and holistic approach.

4. Submissions should be in the English language only.

5. The cover page should have the following information:

• The Title of Paper
• Names of the author/s
• Designation and Institutional affiliation of the Author/s (if any)
• E mail ID/s
• Phone no/s

The author/s name should not appear in the rest of the article

6. Word Limit: The prescribed word limit is 6000 words including references. The submission must include an abstract of 150-250 words which should contain a minimum of five keywords arranged alphabetically.

7. Era designations used in paper are to be expressed in CE (the Common Era) and BCE (Before Common Era) instead of AD and BC. (e.g. 300 BCE to 250 CE.) Particular centuries are spelled out and in lower case, such as

a) From the sixth to ninth century CE
b) The sixth century BCE
c) The seventh and eighth centuries

8. The style of reference, is to be through in-text citation.

  • by ‘author year: pp’ for books (e.g. Bhattacharya 1992: 221-8 and not 221-228) and ‘author year’ for article (e.g. Dhavalikar 1989).
  • In case of more than one citation for a single fact/interpretation, the pattern should be first alphabetical and then chronological (e.g. Chakravarty 1977, Dasgupta 1999, Morrison 1998, 1999 and so on)

9. Punctuation

Initials in personal names should be separated by full stops with spaces, e.g. A. J. Vijay, but no full stop should be used for upper case abbreviations, e.g. USA, RCAHMS

  • Quotes should be placed in italics text and within double quotation marks
  • Short quotes should be placed within the text, longer quotes should be indented
  • Compass points should be hyphenated, e.g. north west, south southeast
  • n dashes (–) should be used to represent a range, e.g. 1342 1350 BC, and in page spans 45-50

10. References

An extended list of references titled REFERENCES should be included in alphabetical order at the end of the text/paper.

f. In case of ONLINE - Author/s, Year, The title (if any). The link, i.e. url (last date of accession).

11. Photographs and Illustrations/Tables, Graphs, etc. may be in colour or B/W in JPEG format with a short caption.

Photographs and line drawings including diagrams, maps, tables should appear as “plates” and “figures” numbered consecutively in Roman and Arabic numerals throughout the article with captions. Photographs should be sent as JPEG format also separately (Image Quality: 300 dpi and more). Photos (in JPEG format) and diagrams with a short caption should be attached to the text where necessary with proper acknowledgement of the source. List of illustrations may be given in details.

** The Editors will not be responsible for copyright clearance for photos or illustrations used. The author/s has/have the sole responsibility of obtaining permission for using someone else’s illustrations and/or satellite imagery.

12. Acknowledgments: These must be put before the references and be less than 200 words.

13. The Text should be typed with spacing 1.5 in normal margin.

1) Type main text in Ms office word 2007 file in 12 size font in Times New Roman font
2) All non-English words should be in italics, e.g. padma, and diacritical marks should be used if necessary, e.g. âsana, jñâna mudrâ.
3) Names of books should also be in italics e.g. Indian Art

N.B. The sole responsibility for the point of view and opinion will be that of the author/s. The Editor/s of the journal will not be liable for opinions expressed.

14. Notification of Acceptance/Rejection: Within 30 days from the date of Submission.

15. The articles submitted or publication will be sent to referees. Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts in the light of referee’s comments. The selection of the manuscripts will mainly depend on the opinion of the referees.

16. Author(s) must strictly adhere to guidelines, failing which their submissions may not be considered.

17. In the selection of research pager, photograph and line drawings, the decision of the Editorial Board will be final.

18. The Editor will not be responsible for the views expressed in the articles.

19. After the publication of the article, a free soft copy/ electronic copy of the article will be sent to the author via email.
